Boardman
As a youth growing up in southern Oregon I always heard the name Boardman connected with "bombing range."  Some things are not worth being famous for.  A quick tour through the residential area of town (which does not take long) shows mostly new housing.  Most of the town relocated in 1960 to escape the rising waters behind the new John Day dam on the Columbia river.  The area features huge irrigated farms, a large coal fired electrical generation facility and the ample water of Lake Umatilla behind the John Day dam.

Welcome to Boardman.  This little bit of green is created with water from the Columbia River.  Beyond you can see the Oregon high desert.  What is green is Boardman is irrigated.

The Nazarene Church established in 1921 stand sentinel over the older part of town.  In Western Oregon this building might have rotted away by now.  Not much is old in Boardman but then there is not much in Boardman.

Let Lynard tell it like it is.  Huge irrigation projects have made this area into a major agricultural area with potatoes being one of the major crops.
