Dillard
Not every place is famous for something, but Dillard is famous for its melons. The nights are warm in the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua and cantaloupe thrive here. Melons grown all the way from Riddle to Roseburg come to you with the "Dillard" label.
This is also the location of the huge Roseburg Lumber Company plant. We measured it along the hiway including the log sorting areas; it stretches for 3 miles along Hiway 99! This mill provides employment to workers from the many small towns in the area.
This is a typical wayside fruit stand in Dillard. Unfortunately I took this picture on a December Sunday and they were closed.
This shot is down the side of the 3 mile long Roseburg Lumber plant.
