Sutherlin
Like small towns all over Oregon Sutherlin suffered when the timber economy crashed. Fortunately because of the lay of the land and not any good intention by the engineers Interstate 5 just brushes the western edge of town. That intersection is the most prosperous part of town now. In addition to the usual truck stop and restaurants it even has a golf course. Beyond that Sutherlin is a pretty plain little town.
Allen recalls that in high school the Sutherlin wrestling team used to beat everyone around. In his senior year Myrtle Creek beat the Bulldogs and that was cause for celebration. Little did he know that would not become a page in history.
Sutherlin is getting a little too big for SmallTownOregon, but I keep it here just for old times sake.
