Drain
I-5 bypassed Drain too, but this little town had to good fortune to be the junction for Hiway 38 to Reedsport and the Oregon Coast. Drain still boasts one large lumber mill, but the skeletons of others are spread along the hiways attesting to a more vibrant past.
Drain has three antiques stores, some restaurants and other basic supplies.
A beautiful old Victorian home that someone still loves.
Most of the small town churches are wooden like this one. The material was cheap or free in the busy lumbering towns of the early 20th century. This one is perched high up the hill side overseeing the town.
