It's Simply Paradise
Talk about a premium location! Dunes City is located on the shore of Siltcoos lake, with Woahink lake and the beach nearby. The unusual formation of Dunes City in 1963 came about when 629 residents decided to stand up against a Federal mandate. The national park service was in the process of creating the Oregon Dunes National Seashore area and the people of this settlement wanted to be excluded. The best way to do that was to incorporate the area, and so they did.
